Gary Magakis, Blackened Steel Ledges Console, USA, 2016
-
Description
Gary Magakis’ unique blackened steel Ledges Console epitomizes the sculptor’s distinct approach to creating bold and dense geometric forms that simultaneously exude an elegant, buoyant aesthetic of Modernism. At once a functional console table and work of art, the piece is designed to be able to float in the room and can be experienced from every angle.
Inspired by Constructivism and the cantilevered houses, Gary Magakis channels architectural elements in design while tapering each of his forms uniquely. Though each of the console’s sections appear sharp at first glance, they are actually gracefully curvilinear, as the entire piece lacks any straight lines or edges.
