Description
An outstanding 'English country house' console, side, or sideboard table in the baroque manner of William Kent and Matthias Lock, the honed Belgian black marble slab top with 'demi bullnose' edge atop white-washed carved wood base with rosette guilloché moulded frieze surmounting lionhead and acanthus monopodia corner supports joined by fabric-imitating swags with central Nemean lion head-and-pelt mask. This impressive and highly decorative piece is believed to have been built or rebuilt circa 1930 using 18th and early 19th century period elements and timbers.
