Gianfranco Frattini Kyoto Coffee Table for Ghiande, 1970s, Distributed by Knoll
-
Description
Designed by Gianfranco Frattini, produced in a small amount of pieces by Ghiande, Italy, and distributed by Knoll, the 'Kyoto' coffee table from 1974 embodies a unique blend of Japanese architectural influence and Italian craftsmanship. Crafted in maple, leather, and glass, this substantial coffee table features a distinctive design inspired by Japanese building constructions.
The table's focal point is its wooden grid structure, meticulously assembled using maple laths. Four solid round legs provide stability and support. Resting atop the grid is a square glass top, which not only protects the underlying materials but also adds a touch of elegance to the overall composition. Cognac leather felts serve both as a functional safeguard and a visually appealing element that complements the grid pattern.
This low table is in very good vintage condition with just some light sings due to age and gentle use. With dimensions of 76x76cm and a height of 35cm, this coffee table offers a substantial yet balanced presence, making it an elegant addition to any mid-century inspired interior.
