Designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti, this table embodies the very soul of Italian Mid-Century Modern. Italian descends from many important historical movements, such as the rich history of Roman architecture, and more recently the Renaissance centuries ago. Following the explosion of the Mid-Century movement, it was only a matter of time until Gio Ponti gained critical acclaim in his work. A groundbreaking architect, his work was a massive departure from the classical buildings seen out of Italy before him. With an almost German rigor, his work now stands today as some of the best Italian design around.

This table follows the same footsteps that made his architecture incredible. It is deceptively sophisticated. Four carved walnut oval legs support a walnut top, which flips out and extends to a depth of 38" from 19" for use as a dining table or a console table. It looks incredible as either. The tapered legs are tipped with brass sleeves, allowing the look to remain light. Studio-made in Italy, it was imported in the 1950s and sold by Singer & Sons.

In very good vintage and original condition. Light normal use.
