Hekman Furniture Signed Walnut & Brass Roll-Top Writing Desk Mid-Century Modern
-
Description
A unique vintage Mid-Century Modern roll top desk by the Hekman Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Hekman Furniture was funded in 1922 and become part of the Howard Miller Company in 1983.
The company is still in business but this desk from 1960's is not in their line. The desk, with two drawers, has a body of figured walnut with stained oak hex-shaped legs. Inside the drawers the secondary wood is oak.
The desk has a cylinder roll which opens to reveal storage compartments. The pulls on the cylinder and the leg stretchers are brass. The writing surface is of a tough composition made to resemble leather, it is 14 1/2” by 51 1/2”. Over all the desk is 54” wide, 28 ½” deep and 34” high at the back, the writing surface is 28 ¼” high.
Very good vintage condition. Light scuffs, nice petina. All drawers work well. No wobbling or sagging. -
