Fine Biedermeier Mahogany Side Table. Vienna, c. 1820-25.
-
Description
Hello,
This exceptional Viennese Biedermeier mahogany side table was made circa 1820-25.
Viennese Biedermeier is distinguished by their sophisticated proportions, rare and refined design and excellent craftsmanship and continue to have a great influence on modern design.
This elegant small piece is attributed to Josef Danhauser who was the most prolific Viennese cabinet maker during the Biedermeier era. His pieces reflect innovative design and highest quality craftsmanship.
The piece has one amazing thing…it is the original label with the hand written catalogue number 26 from Josef Danhauser factory in Vienna. The label is placed on the bottom of the top. This is a very rare case because Biedermeier pieces were mostly not signed.
One of the attached picture is showing the original Danhauser sketch of this fine table. This sketch is in the collection of MAK - Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. This table with its label is a very unique and collectible object.
The piece is in very good condition.
