Dragon Side Table
-
Description
Dragons appear in ancient mythologies throughout almost every culture on the planet. Is it a mythical creature that is symbolic to a message or was it an actual animal remembered from our very distant past? China has the oldest continuous civilisation in the world. Here a re-presentation of Chinese iconography (summoning good fortune and longevity) has been arranged in the form of a side table. At the base, the elements water, rock and air and above rises the dragon crested by a fire ball. This design was conceived by Brazier-Jones in 1995, just before the return of Hong Kong to China where he was a guest of Pearl Lam and worked on a number of pieces exploring the concept of east meets west. This is a perfect accent piece, designed to sit next to a sofa or to display a sculpture or table lamp. An open edition table that can also be ordered in polished or patinated bronze.
