  • Description
A rare, perhaps unique, Queen Anne tea table with molded tray top, boxed frame with projecting quarter round molding over four sharply creased and scrolled cabriole legs ending in hoofed feet.  Other than the dramatic curve to the legs and shaped 'toes', the most unusual feature of this little table is that it was made with removable legs-held in with wedges driven into the boxed frame.  The top and legs are made of top quality mahogany, the frame is fully veneered with mahogany, and the secondary wood of the frame is maple.  The wedges are pine.  It is dated several times on the underside '1741'.  Coastal New England origin, probably Portsmouth.  Top 18-1/2" x 28-3/4", frame 17" x 27", 25-3/4" ht.
