Rare “Chrysanthemum” coffee table, hand-brazed in patinated bronze with a glass top, is by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, American 1970's (signed "Philip Kelvin Laverne" on side of base). There is a lot of thought and intention that went into the design of this beautiful and rare sculpture table (see below).

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this work is shown on page 207 in the section titled The Brazed Series. The caption reads, “ The CHRYSANTHEMUM coffee table, which incorporates the Chinese character for longevity that looks like a flower, in hand-brazed patinated bronze with a glass top, was created in the 1970s. The Chinese flower of longevity is the Chrysanthemum. The character for longevity is shown three times, and three is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture.” -
