Description
Round expandable Dining Table, Cherry Wood, France, Paris circa 1880.
Lovely bright Cherry veneer and solid wood. Refinished and hand-polished with shellac. Straight, conical square legs with ebonized rings. The side of the plate has been ebonized, too.
Old solid oak expanding mechanism, stamped „J. Emery & Ragot, Paris“.
The table was built around 1880 in the style of early restoration. These table were popular in France in that period and used for long dining sessions with bigger groups. Today, they are very rare.
Four cherry-veneered on pine wood extension leaves added later with each 45 cm long. In total, the table can be expanded from 128 cm to 308 cm (50.4“ to 121.25“). Fully extended, the long dining table offers space for up to 14 people. In the middle it has two extra legs for more stabilization, when expanded.
The leaves were originally made in only softwood and tablecloth was used. We added some veneered plate in the restoration so that the table can be showcased without any cover in the room when expanded.
Dimensions:
H 79 cm
L 127 cm + 4 plates a 45 cm; Total length: 308 cm
D 114 cm
Apron-Height: 67 cm -
