Available today, this Brazilian Modern Dining table in hardwood and glass top designed by Sergio Rodrigues in Brazil in the 1960's is gorgeous!

The “Alex” dining table features a robust “X” shape base with chrome finishes and a thick glass top that fits four to five people comfortably (attached table with chairs for reference).

This table perfectly represents the Brazilian Modernist movement and the architects hired to design and furnish the new capital Brasilia in 1960. These pieces belonged to Furnas, a regional power utility and major subsidiary of Eletrobras (National Electricity company) that was founded in 1957 and still has the patrimony plaque still. So, if you are looking for a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece with history behind, look no further!

This table could easily be flexed into any mid-century modern, modern, or contemporary environment and can be played up to be more maximalist or minimalist with its surroundings.

For the history buffs here, it goes…Sergio Rodrigues started working in the 1950’s when the foundations of modern Brazilian architecture were already laid out, yet furniture design was still nascent. Rodrigues set himself the task of designing furniture that was both truly Brazilian and modernist at the same time. Over the course of his career, he accomplished this task by defining a robust, modern, and pure language reflected in his work.
