Description
When it comes to materials, Italian design manufacturer Saporiti is known for extensive use bird's eye maple in its designs. For example, the designer Giovanni Offredi, who has a great track record at Saporiti, frequently used this material in his designs.DesignThis coffee table is from the hand of Sergio Saporiti and was presented in the early 1980s. He was the founder of the company that has made a major contribution to Italian design by treating each piece with such attention that it stands the test of time both aesthetically and functionally.Besides strongly communicating a Memphis-style it is also very robust and stands out for its design that is slightly out of balance. Between the round aluminum base and the top we see a relatively thick stem that is at an acute angle. On the short sides it is rounded and fully veneered in bird's eye maple burl which is finished in lacquer. Under the top a smaller round part attached to which the foot is anchored. Besides that, on the underside of the tops we see dark lacquered oak which contrasts nicely with the maple burl veneer.ConditionApart from some traces of use such as scratches on the aluminum base, the table is in good condition.
