Ultra rare 18K gold pendant or bracelet charm in the form of a Space Rocket with a Dog riding inside. In the 1950's during the early years of Space exploration, Russia experimented with dogs to see if life could survive in Space. One of the first occupants of a Soviet Spacecraft was Laika a stray mongrel from the streets of Moscow. Sputnik 2 carrying Laika was launched into a low orbit on November third 1957. Lovely commemoration to the first Astro Dog in Space. The rocket measures approximately 1 7/8" long by just under 1/2" wide. Marked 18K & 750 on the rocket tail fin. Weighs about 3.3 g or 2.1 dwt.
