Florence Knoll
Born in Michigan, Florence studied at studied at the Kingswood School for Girls and the Cranbook Academy of Art (as well as under such pivotal architects as Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer), where she began developing the skills that would later lead her to launch a consulting service. After marrying Hans Knoll in 1946, Florence she injected office spaces across the country with modernized ideas of efficiency and space planning with her "meat and potatoes" designs, which eventually came to define the modern corporate interiors of post-war America. The innovation and sleek minimalism of vintage Florence Knoll furniture sofas and chairs remain popular today.
