Description
Complex knife assemblies were made for exhibition in England to showcase the skills of knife and watchmakers. This example was made by Cambridge clockmaker J. Y. Oliver and contains 400 knives, each signed by the maker "J.Y. Oliver #121" surrounding a brass clock with beautiful scrollwork appliques and engraving. The movement is also signed by Oliver. Eight turned ivory half balusters encase the four arms of knives. The mahogany stand has been replaced for increased stability.
