The leading interior designer Glenn Gissler is celebrated for his incredibly inviting and visually interesting interiors. Gissler earned degrees in Architecture and Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design before going on to work for Juan Montoya, one of the most acclaimed and prolific interior designers in the world,  and the celebrated architect Rafael Viñoly.  Gissler launched his own firm, Glenn Gissler Design, in 1987 and quickly established a devoted following thanks to his quietly sophisticated aesthetic and acute attention to detail.

Max Ernst "Chess Players" Sculpture, 1970-75. Offered by Leah Gordon.
Ebonized Walnut Dresser, Paul Frankl, 1940s. Offered by Craig van den Brulle.

Gissler seamlessly integrates his rigorous training as an architect with a rich knowledge of design and decorative arts, particularly those of the 19th and 20th centuries, to create incredibly dynamic and refined spaces. From Manhattan penthouses to summer homes on Martha’s Vineyard, all of Gissler’s interiors feature a spectacular mix of fine art, rare textiles, one-of-a-kind objects, and stunning details, including beautiful finishes, custom furniture, and expertly crafted millwork. Gissler has been named one of House Beautiful’s and New York Magazine’s “100 Top Designers” and his interiors have appeared in Town & Country, Elle Decor, InStyle, House & Garden, House Beautiful, The American Homestyle, Interior Design, Avenue, The New York Times, and The New York Observer.

Gissler browsed InCollect and selected objects that reflect his affinity for objects with a timeless appeal. He said, "I look for object of any era that have distinctive silhouettes and are ‘bi-lingual’ – that is the objects speak to the time they were made, while speaking to today – a sign for me that the object or work of art has, and will endure over time. For me fine Art (with a capital ‘A’) is one of the greatest luxuries one can give themselves – offering another view on life."
