Børge Mogensen (Borge Mogensen)
Børge Mogensen's fusion of simplicity and functional design helped create international notoriety for Danish furniture. Like many top Danish furniture mid-century designers Mogensen began his training as a cabinetmaker before pursuing studies at the Copenhagen School of Arts and also at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts-where he studied under Kaare Klint and earned a degree in architecture. Børge Mogensen became the Head of Design at co-op FDB in 1942 and eight years later he founded his own firm. Mogensen's designs can be characterized by simple strong lines and ultimate functionality. Børge Mogensen's furniture chairs & design remain popular worldwide today.
