Charles Pavarini III’s Top InCollect Picks: Classic Meets Cutting-Edge

Charles Pavarini III’s design roots run deep. His grandfather, Charles Pavarini, Sr., founded the Pavarini Construction Company, best known for creating such landmarks as the Seagram Tower and the United Nations. Charles, who has cultivated a singular style that deftly blends traditional and contemporary elements, reinterpreted this rich family legacy with the founding of the architecturally-based interior design firm, Pavarini Design.
Headquartered in New York City, Pavarini Design often steps in during the pivotal construction planning stages, seeing nearly all projects through decoration and art selection. This start-to-finish approach ensures that interiors work hand-in-hand with the surrounding architecture, creating a cohesive and dynamic atmosphere. Sophisticated, stylish, and inviting, the firm’s interiors are informed by Charles’ acute sense of color and passion for mood.
An accomplished performer, costume designer, and set designer, Charles has a knack for creating spaces that exude just the right amount of drama – something that he achieves in part through his exacting lighting technique. Charles, who has sat on the board of directors of the Designer’s Lighting Forum of New York for twenty-eight years, is an expert at creating striking focal points by using lighting as a tool to highlight the artistic and architectural integrity of a space. From rustic mountain retreats to palatial penthouses, Charles’ ability to seamlessly blend folk art, fine art, and sculpture into any interior makes for spaces that are impossibly refined, always livable, and a touch magical.
Throughout his thirty-year career, Charles has been honored with nearly twenty awards and has appeared in over twenty-one showhouses. In addition to his time with the Designer’s Lighting Forum, Charles serves as Chairman of the Designer’s Committee for the esteemed Kips Bay Designer Showhouse. An ardent philanthropist, he has spearheaded fundraising events for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club of New York, Broadway Cares-Equity Fights AIDS, the March of Dimes, the Starlight Foundation, the ASID Metro Chapter, and Susan G. Komen For the Cure. Most recently, Charles designed and installed a room for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, which debuted his revolutionary new endeavor: Chromatherapy, Healing through Color and Light.
