Niels Otto Møller

Danish, 1920 - 1982
Niels Otto Møller (1920-1982) was a Danish furniture designer, known for his functional and elegant designs. He was born in Aarhus, Denmark and trained as a cabinetmaker before studying at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen.

Møller's designs were characterized by their clean lines, high-quality materials, and expert craftsmanship. He was particularly known for his use of solid wood, especially teak and rosewood, and his designs often featured intricate joinery and details that highlighted the natural beauty of the wood.

Møller's most famous designs include his dining chairs, which were simple and elegant in design, yet incredibly comfortable and ergonomic. He believed that good design should be accessible to everyone and his pieces were widely distributed and affordable.

Møller's designs received numerous awards and recognitions during his lifetime, and his pieces are still highly sought after today by collectors and enthusiasts of mid-century modern design. His furniture designs can be found in museum collections around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
