Eva Stæhr Nielsen

Eva Stæhr Nielsen (1911-1973) was a Danish textile designer, weaver, and painter. She was born in Denmark and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where she was trained in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, and printmaking.
Nielsen is best known for her work as a textile designer and weaver. She was particularly interested in the traditional craft of handweaving and worked to develop new techniques and designs that combined modern aesthetics with traditional methods.
In the 1940s and 1950s, Nielsen created a number of textile designs that were produced by leading Danish textile manufacturers, including Dansk Kinafarveri and Vagnby's Textilfabrik. Her designs were characterized by their clean lines, bold geometric patterns, and use of natural materials, such as wool and linen.
In addition to her work as a textile designer, Nielsen was also an accomplished painter. She exhibited her paintings in galleries throughout Denmark and was a member of the influential art group Linien II.
Today, Nielsen's work is highly regarded in Denmark and is represented in the collections of several museums, including the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen. Her textiles are also highly sought after by collectors and are considered some of the finest examples of Danish mid-century modern design.
