Gunnar Nylund

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic artist and designer. He was born in Paris, France, to a Swedish father and a French mother, and grew up in Sweden. Nylund began his career as a painter and graphic designer, but later turned his attention to ceramics, which became his primary medium.
Nylund worked for a number of different Swedish ceramics companies throughout his career, including Rörstrand, Gustavsberg, and Strömbergshyttan. He was known for his innovative designs, which combined modernist principles with traditional Swedish ceramic techniques.
Nylund's work was characterized by its simplicity and elegance, and he often used muted colors and subtle textures to create a sense of calm and tranquility. He was also known for his use of stoneware, which he favored for its durability and versatility.
