Eric Dever
American, 1962
Eric Dever is an American abstract painter based in upstate New York. He is known for his vibrant and expressive paintings that explore the relationships between color, light, and texture.
Dever's paintings are often inspired by the natural landscapes around him, such as the beaches and marshes of his native Long Island and the forests and mountains near his studio in the Hudson Valley. He uses a variety of media, including oil, wax, and pigments, to create complex layers of texture and depth in his works.
Dever has exhibited his paintings in numerous solo and group shows in galleries and museums throughout the United States and Europe. He has also been the recipient of several awards and fellowships, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and a residency at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut. In addition to his studio practice, Dever is also a professor of art at SUNY New Paltz.
