Tour the Just-Opened Hampton Designer Showhouse
The Hampton Designer Showhouse kicked off with a Gala Preview Party on Saturday, July 23. This year’s showhouse—a traditional Shingle Style abode—is presented by the celebrated shelter magazine, Traditional Home. Twenty-five top interior designers and decorative artists, including Melanie Turner Interiors, Dodson Interiors, and Michael del Piero Good Design, have been selected to transform the residence using eye-catching art, furniture, and decor.
The Hamptons mainstay, which is in its sixteenth year, is helmed by an inimitable team of designers—Mario Buatta is the Honorary Showhouse Chairman, while Jamie Drake and Alexa Hampton serve as the Honorary Design Co-Chairmen. Proceeds from the showhouse will benefit the Southampton Hospital.
Below are some of the beautifully appointed interiors you can expect to see inside the 2016 Hampton Designer Showhouse.
Great Room, Kate Singer Home
For the showhouse’s stunning great room, Kate Singer, who is based in Huntington, New York, teamed up with the furniture company, Ballard Designs. Singer utilized a mix of contemporary pieces from Ballard and antique furnishings, including a graceful Gustavian settee. The old and new come together to create a collected and sophisticated ambiance. The great room’s refined atmosphere is reinforced by a delicate, hand-painted mural by de Gournay.
First Floor Master Sitting Room, Kyle Roberts Interior Design
This sunny sitting room by New York’s Kyle Roberts Interior Design is brimming with cheery exuberance. Roberts tempered the room’s lemon yellow walls with modern furnishings in neutral tones and incorporated natural materials, such as wood and metal. The result is an inviting common area that is effervescent, without being over the top.
Rear Corner Bedroom, Michael Del Piero Good Design
Designer Michael Del Piero, who has offices in Chicago and the Hamptons, created a serene corner bedroom using a neutral palette of soft cremes and whites and elegant, pared-down forms. Inspired by the sunlight and the overall tranquil feeling of the space, Del Piero set out to reimagine the traditional guest bedroom as a soothing retreat meant for relaxation and rejuvenation. The curated mix of art and design imbues the space with a sense of sophistication, while the oversized ceiling fixture adds a dash of drama.
Living Room, Melanie Turner Interiors
This stylish living room exemplifies Melanie Turner’s elegant yet understated aesthetic. The Atlanta-based designer put a distinctly modern spin on the 1970s-era den by playing with the room’s scale and texture. A few of the space’s standout pieces are the custom concrete coffee table by Bradley-USA and the vibrant abstract paintings by artist Sally King Benedict. The inviting room speaks to the chic yet relaxed atmosphere of the Hamptons.
Dining Room, Mendelson Group, Inc.
This dining room by New York’s Mendelson Group, Inc. is another space in the showhouse that sought inspiration from the past. Designer Gideon Mendelson created the dining room for an imaginary client that has special memories of holiday meals at her grandmother’s house. Rather than recreate the room, which featured latticework wallpaper and decorative banana trees, Mendelson interpreted the space through a contemporary lens. Mendelson put a fresh spin on the latticework of yore by using it as an architectural element within the room, while the chandelier recalls the banana leaves the client remembers so fondly.
Bunk Room, Dodson Interiors
Julie Dodson of Houston’s Dodson Interiors wanted to get away from the traditional bunk room and create something fresh and fun for the showhouse. Luxurious canopies and tufted velvet headboards add a bit of glamour to the space, which manages to be both elegant and casual. Eye-catching patterns and a trio of paintings by Hunt Slonem add to the room’s charm.
First Floor Master Bathroom, Tilton Fenwick
Anne Maxwell Foster and Suysel dePedro Cunningham—the duo behind the New York-based firm, Tilton Fenwick—have a knack for mixing bold patterns and bright colors to create spaces that seem to vibrate with energy. For the showhouse’s master bathroom, Foster and Cunningham incorporated wallpaper from their upcoming collection for Hygge & West. The whimsical pattern is anchored by sleek, white fixtures as well as a graceful chandelier by Barry Goralnick for Circa Lighting that, according to the designers, strikes a perfect balance between modern and traditional.
The Hampton Designer Showhouse will be open for tours through Monday, September 5. Click here for more information.
