Description
This is a unique sterling silver and ebony trophy designed and executed by Antonio Pineda in 1968 as an Award for the Art Exhibit of the Foreign Friends of Acapulco. It was presented to Phillipa Faulkner for her painting “Flight in Space”. The cup is removable from the base and becomes a functional sculptural vessel. The master Mexican silversmith, Antonio Pineda, became one of the foremost designers in the Mexican silver movement. An expert craftsman, having apprenticed with William Spratling for 8 years starting at age14, Antonio Pineda produced some of the most modern designs in silver gaining world wide recognition for his work.
