Description
This strong graphic oil on canvas painting dated 1960 from Herbert Bayer’s Moon and Structure series is framed under glass. Herbert Bayer believed that simple geometric forms, when combined with vibrant colors, held endless possibilities. At the time of his death he was the last living member of the Bauhaus where he went to school and subsequently became the Director of Printing and Advertising until 1928. Moving to the US, ten years after, he had a very successful career in Graphic Arts and became a US citizen in 1944.
