Alvino Bagni

Alvino Bagni (1919-2000) was an Italian ceramic artist and designer known for his sculptural ceramics and tableware. He was born in the city of Verona and began his career as a ceramic artist in the 1940s, working for several prominent Italian ceramic companies including Bitossi, where he served as artistic director.
 
Bagni's work is characterized by its bold shapes, striking use of color, and expressive textures. He often employed a range of techniques, including wheel throwing, hand-building, and surface treatments such as carving, glazing, and enameling.
 
Bagni's work has been widely exhibited in Italy and internationally, and is held in the collections of several major museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He was also the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a Compasso d'Oro award for design in 1956.
