Michel Ducaroy was a French industrial designer and architect who is best known for his innovative furniture designs. Born in 1925 in Lyon, France, Ducaroy studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris before embarking on a career in furniture design. In 1973, he joined the furniture company Ligne Roset, where he created his most famous design, the Togo sofa. The Togo was a groundbreaking piece of furniture that featured a distinctive, low-slung design and was upholstered in soft, pliable foam that conformed to the body's shape. The Togo quickly became a sensation and helped to establish Ligne Roset as a leading manufacturer of modern, innovative furniture. In addition to the Togo, Ducaroy also created a range of other furniture designs, including chairs, tables, and lamps. His designs were characterized by their clean, modern lines and their emphasis on comfort and functionality. Today, Michel Ducaroy is remembered as one of the most influential furniture designers of the 20th century, and his designs continue to be sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of modern furniture.
