Leading contemporary artisans will offer their handmade furniture, home décor, lighting, art, textiles, and ceramics at the 23rd annual Philadelphia Furniture Show, the longest running exhibition of its kind in the region.

The design covering the doors of this “Honeycomb Credenza” came about after experimenting with different carved patterns resembling natural forms. The carved doors and base are made of ebonized red oak, while the case is made of paulownia. Offered by Jon Billing of Big Sand Woodworking.
Drawing inspiration from his appreciation of nature, in this instance an ocean wave, has allowed maker Bill Castonia to create objects that possess value beyond mere function or aesthetics. Offered by William Castonia of Castonia’s Woodworks.

Craftspeople and woodworkers from the Philadelphia area anchor the show and honor the city’s rich furniture tradition, complemented by contributions from artisans across the country. The winner of the annual Emerging Artist Contest, a young person who has recently completed furniture making studies, will receive a booth at the show to feature his or her work. More than 80 craftspeople will be exhibiting this year, including Big Sand Woodworking, Red Metal, Ted Saxerud, Bok Read Woodworking, The Bazis Collection, Markel Design, Stonis Consulting, Castonia’s Woodworks, and Lambkin Studio.

A VIP pass to the event provides the ultimate experience for connoisseurs of fine furniture and craft, and includes an exclusive invitation to the preview party on Friday. As a VIP, you can enjoy early access to the show throughout the weekend, plus complimentary champagne as you peruse the show’s offerings. VIP passes are $75 per person. A weekend pass for Saturday and Sunday is $12, or you can purchase a one-day ticket at the door for $15. The show is located at the historic, castle-like 23rd Street Armory in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of downtown Philadelphia.
