Description
Rare and Important K'ang Hsi extension dining table in etched and patinated pewter and bronze with enamel colors by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (signed on both leaves and center section, “Philip & Kelvin LaVerne”). There are 4 symbols on the leaves which represent good luck, prosperity, longevity, and happiness. Only a small number these were produced. It is a tour de force of design and incorporates the many artistic talents of Philip & Kelvin LaVerne. Table extends to 112.5 inches.
Description from the original showroom literature:
"A magnificent sculptured dining room table in bronze and pewter, enhanced with patina and opulent enamel colorings. A patented mechanism process utilizes concealed leaves which are retractable at a slight touch, extending the surface for entertaining in grand style. The Oriental design is comprised of separate vignettes that describe joyous ceremonies. The base is a sculptured bronze pedestal."
