Founded in 2007 by French applied arts expert Renaud Vuaillat, Twenty First Gallery has established itself as one of New York’s preeminent purveyors of thought-provoking collectible design produced with quality materials and mastery in mind. Vuaillat and his team work closely with a roster of renowned and emerging talents; pushing them to think outside the box, experiment, and create new format-defying work that can captivate collectors in new ways. Originally specializing in 18th-century French design and operating as a fixture of the Serpette flea market, Vuaillat quickly became a key vendor to much of the U.S. collector base. Later, he was instrumental in helping to shift its focus from vintage to contemporary collectible design. Originally opening a gallery on Paris’s left bank and moving to New York in 2006 to establish Twenty First Gallery a year later, Vuaillat dedicated himself to supporting the work of living talents.
