Description
Paolo Buffa chandelier made in Milan 1930 by Achille Donzelli.
This stunning large rare chandelier was made on commission for a fantastic private house in Milan.
Centre column has two rows of acanthus leaves in silver finish above a large round shade in white opaline glass with a clear glass disk, just above the shade on top are eight opaline panels to reflect the light down and finish off the top so that you don't see the bulbs and to keep the inside clean.
A similar small one is illustrated in I mobili di Paolo Buffa 2001 showing it in a room setting designed by Paolo Buffa in a1930 exhibition that was in Monza at the 4th triennale along with his furniture.
The same model except for the length of the chain was hanging in the grand dining room of the art deco Villa Necchi in Milan, the photo was taken in 1932.
A rare find. Great quality. Unique. I have had many chandeliers from him in the past 36 years and this I can say is the best chandelier he ever designed.
Takes twenty e14 incandescent bulbs. - More Information
