H. Edward Winter

H. Edward Winter was an American furniture designer and artist who was active in the mid-20th century. Born in 1908 in Massachusetts, Winter studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and later at the New Bauhaus in Chicago. He is best known for his sleek, modernist furniture designs that emphasized functionality and simplicity. Winter's designs were often made using new materials and techniques, such as laminated plywood and molded plastics, and were characterized by their clean lines and geometric shapes. In addition to his furniture design work, Winter was also an accomplished artist, working in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, and printmaking. He was a member of the American Abstract Artists group and exhibited his work widely in galleries and museums throughout the United States.
