Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin

Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin were two Italian glassmakers who worked together to found the glass company Venini & Cappellin in 1921. Venini had previously worked for the Murano glass company Salviati & C. and brought his expertise in glass blowing and design to the new company. Cappellin, a textile merchant, provided the financial backing for the venture.
Venini & Cappellin quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality glassware with innovative designs. The company's success was due in part to the collaboration between Venini and some of the most prominent designers of the time, including Carlo Scarpa, Napoleone Martinuzzi, and Fulvio Bianconi.
After a few years of successful partnership, Venini and Cappellin had a falling out, and Venini left to start his own glass company, leaving Cappellin to run the original company. Venini's new company also became very successful and is still in operation today. Cappellin's company was eventually renamed Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C., and continued to produce high-quality glass until it closed in the 1950s.
