Walter Gropius and Ben Thompson "W199" armchairs set of eight. Designed in 1951 with Benjamin Thompson a fellow professor at Harvard. Gropius' principal of the firm "The Architects' Collaborative" established with Thompson and six other former Harvard colleagues. The armchairs where designed to work equally as dining chairs, desk chairs, or reading chairs. They are very comfortable rarely seen treasures of chair and Bauhaus history.
Walter Gropius founded Bauhaus 1919 in Weimar.
Solid nuttwood & Laminated birch manufactured by Thonet 1951.
Chairs are in very good to excellent condition. -
