Rare Warren McArthur Adjustable Chaise, circa 1938
-
Description
A Warren McArthur adjustable webbed chaise manufactured in the mid 1930s. An extraordinary example of Warren McArthur design that rarely appears on the market. The back can rest flat or in 3 adjustable settings. The cross bar is shaped and has flat disk end points keeps the adjustment bar in place a very cool design detail. The seat cushion is missing but from the catalog entry it would be a relatively easy cushion to copy.
The chaise is in very good vintage condition with minor rubbing on the moveable cross bar support for the back, a 7" separation along the weld line of one of the base tubes (see image 8) which is not uncommon with welded tube which predates the modern extruded tubing and fading to the brilliant red webbing. -
