A superb example of a finely carved, well executed formal Philadelphia open armchair having a carved shaped crest rail above a Gothic style carved pierced splat flanked by serpentine-form arms with carved undulating knuckles. The trapezoid seat frame is fitted with a slip seat, supported by straight legs and a stretcher base with pierced c-scroll returns -
