Celebrate the 14th Annual Design on a Dime as Housing Works presents 60+ vignettes from top designers while raising funds for AIDS and homelessness. Housing Works is the largest community-based AIDS service organization in the country, and the annual event is the brainchild of designer James Huniford, founding chair of Design on a Dime. “It all started with the idea that this would be a way for designers to come together to change the lives of thousands in need,” says Huniford. “It brings together the big personalities of designers in a collaborative way, working in harmony toward a shared goal.”
On Wednesday, the Groundbreaker Awards will be presented at a celebratory dinner preceded by cocktails; recipients are designer Bunny Williams, Robert Chavez of Hermès, and actor/singer/activist Javier Muñoz. The Opening Night Reception will be held on Thursday with a VIP cocktail hour, preview, and shopping, followed by a public sale on Friday.

On April 30th, the opening night reception for Kips Bay Decorator Show House will usher in the highly anticipated month-long design event open to the public from May 1-31st.
The town house, which is currently on the market for $51,000,000, is comprised of seven sprawling levels with a beautiful winding staircase connecting each level. At 15,000-square-feet, the spaces includes tall ceilings and an abundance of windows for a light and airy feel. The estate’s ideal location, in the heart of New York City’s Upper East Side, allows for easy access to Central Park and Museum Mile. This May, the sought-after residence will call upon 22 leading interior designers to transform individual rooms before opening to the public for viewing.

Amon Carter Museum of American Art

The Amon Carter Museum of American Art has conserved and installed an icon of American art, Diana by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848–1907). The 7-foot-tall cement sculpture of the Roman goddess of the hunt was created in 1894 by artist Saint-Gaudens as a gift to his friend, architect Stanford White (1853–1906).
Saint-Gaudens was commissioned by White around 1887 to create a sculpture to adorn the top of Madison Square Garden in New York City. The initial version designed by Saint-Gaudens was deemed too large for the building and was replaced with a monumental 13-foot-tall, bronze weathervane of Diana, which adorned the top of the building from 1893 to 1925. White was so enamored with Saint-Gaudens’ sculpture that he asked him for a half-sized version for his own garden. The artist presented a 7-foot-tall cement Diana to White in 1894, and the sculpture resided at White’s estate in Box Hill, New York, for more than 30 years. The Amon Carter acquired the cement sculpture in the 1980s along with a bronze companion that had remained in the White Family. Today, that remarkable sculpture, a gift from one friend to another, is part of the Amon Carter’s permanent collection and on view for the first time in Fort Worth.

Charles Santore: Fifty Years of Art and Storytelling

This first-ever retrospective of the work of Charles Santore (born 1935) traces the development of the internationally renowned illustrator from his commercial work of the 1960s to his most recent children’s book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (2017). The exhibition includes illustrations for The Wizard of Oz, Paul Revere’s Ride, A Stowaway on Noah’s Ark, Snow White, and other books, together with theater posters, album covers, and celebrity portraits made for TV Guide in the 1970s and 1980s.
A collector and scholar, Santore is also author and illustrator of "The Windsor Style in America," volumes I and II, benchmarks within the world of collecting and among the most important books on the topic.
His work has been the focus of several major exhibitions at the Brandywine River Museum of Art and the Society of Illustrators in New York. He was also included in the nationwide traveling exhibition Myth, Magic and Mystery: One Hundred Years of American Children’s Book Illustration. Santore is the recipient of numerous awards including the Society of Illustrators Award of Excellence and the Hamilton King Award.
