Description
An American Aesthetic Movement sterling silver vanity set, comprising a hair brush and hand mirror, in the ‘Fantasy’ pattern (#1250), designed by Charles Osborne for Whiting Co. around 1890 in the Japonesque taste.
Both of these items feature a hand-hammered finish with the allover swirled repoussé “pearling” decoration in the nautical taste, a technique for which Osborne is well-known. Each piece is fully hallmarked with the design number, firm’s mark and “STERLING.”
