Description
This rare sofa was designed by Märta Blomstedt and produced in Finland in the 1940s. The sofa has been fully reconditioned and newly upholstered in a white bouclé fabric.
One of the driving forces of the Finnish functionalism movement, the architect Märta Blomstedt saw her projects as total works of art, designing not only the building itself but also its lighting and the furniture. This sofa is a variant of the armchair model designed for the Hotel Aulanko in 1938, which had the same shape but retained chrome tubular legs. The model was installed in the lounge area of the hotel and completed the modernist lines of the hotel itself. -
