Glössner was a Swedish furniture company that was active from 1918 until the 1970s. The company was founded by the brothers Karl-Erik and Harry Glössner, and initially produced hand-carved wooden furniture in the Swedish Gustavian style.
In the 1930s, Glössner began to incorporate more modernist influences into their designs, including the functionalist and Bauhaus movements. The company became known for their elegant, streamlined pieces that combined traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Glössner's furniture was widely regarded as some of the finest in Sweden, and was used in prestigious locations such as the Swedish embassy in Washington, D.C. The company collaborated with a number of prominent designers over the years, including Carl Malmsten and Axel Einar Hjorth.
Despite their success, Glössner struggled to adapt to changing market conditions in the 1960s and 1970s, and eventually went bankrupt in the mid-1970s. However, the company's legacy has lived on, with many of their pieces still highly prized by collectors and enthusiasts of Scandinavian modern design.
