Thierry Jeannot
French
For over two decades, French artist and designer Thierry Jeannot has made Mexico City his creative base, where he reimagines recycled materials through the lens of high design. Known for his dedication to craftsmanship and collaboration with local artisans, Jeannot transforms discarded objects—especially PET plastic bottles—into elegant, sculptural works that challenge our perception of waste and luxury.
His creative journey began in 1980s Paris, where he worked alongside Thierry Mugler and explored the artistic potential of unconventional materials. Today, Jeannot is best known for his luminous, crystal-like chandeliers and furniture pieces that merge salvaged materials with intricate, hand-finished details. A table might juxtapose burnt wood with gold or silver leaf, or incorporate finely cast bronze with industrial scrap—each element serving as a conversation between elegance and decay, history and innovation.
Rooted in the traditions of decorative arts, Jeannot’s work plays with paradox and symbolism. He blurs the lines between fine art, design, and sustainability—inviting viewers to question conventional ideas of value, luxury, and beauty. His acclaimed pieces are held in private collections and have been exhibited across Mexico, the United States, and Europe in both gallery and museum contexts.
