Attributed to J.W. Fiske, New York.
Ca. 1875-1885
Full body-form of molded copper, copper tubing, and a cast zinc head.
Provenance: Robert S. Walin Antiques, Woodbury, Connecticut; Private collection, Cornwall, Connecticut.
This rare imposing size of a “hackney” tail running horse weathervane has a well-defined cast zinc head and wonderful motion to the body. The large size is further complemented with a vibrant, colorful surface.

Origin: United States Period: 19th Century Materials: Copper, Zinc. Condition: Excellent. In overall great condition, few early buck-shot holes filled with lead. Retains portions of original yellow sizing and original gilt with weathered verdigris surface.
