French Early 20th Century Walnut Art Deco Daybed
-
Description
This bitsy-sized antique daybed was made in the Art Deco style in France during the period. Utilizing beautiful walnut, the frame was carved by hand and ornamented with exceptional clusters of carved flowers. The two side rails sport plaques of artfully-fashioned flowers of differing varieties: a motif that you see continued on the head and footboard’s finials, which is brilliantly incorporated into their design. One headboard will fold down, with intermittent stops, allowing longer individuals to enjoy the bed as well. The daybed is currently upholstered in a muslin fabric, making for easier reupholstery once a fabric is chosen. The cushion has a zipper for easy removal. The bed’s feet are carved with ribbed details that are found beneath the decorative finials above. c.1920.
