French 19th Century Louis XIII-Style Oak Confiturier
-
Description
This exceptional oak confiturier is from France, c. 1880, and displays a beautiful, rich patina. It features a single “X”-carved drawer with an oblong steel pull over a like-carved locking door with hand-cut steel escutcheon and steel barrel hinges, and opens to reveal a single removable shelf. Storage pieces such as this confiturier were originally used to store jams and jellies, however, this cabinet would be very useful as a nightstand next to a tall bedstead. The original key is present.
