Bentwood Desk by Paul Goldman for Plymold

Sold Sold
  • Description
Designed by Paul Goldman and manufactured from late 1945 to 1947 by the Plymold Corporation of Massachusetts, this desk is a striking example of the postwar experiments in bent-wood construction. The streamlined outer case is formed of molded plywood while the curved sides and the back are of bent laminate, a method that allowed the drawers to be made of only three pieces of wood. At top, a middle drawer is recessed; four drawers on either side of the desk feature curved cutouts for pulls.
