A brilliant gem- an oil on board by Louis Bentabole- listed French artist known for his seascapes. Initialed right lower corner " L. B." See images for the reverse, translated here from the French.
Dedicated and signed on reverse, center: " To Louise, L. Bentabole"
Inscribed by buyer: "A small painting without importance, but agreeably executed, that I myself bought after the wish expressed by my wife. I gave it to Louise. J.R. et. "
Further inscribed on lower frame: " L. Bentabole, marine painter, highly esteemed"
