Howard Hodgkin

Howard Hodgkin (1932–2017) was a British painter and printmaker. He was known for his vibrant use of colour, and his abstract canvases often featured bold, expressive brushwork. He was a major figure in the British art scene, and in 1985 he became the first living artist to be given a solo exhibition at the Tate Gallery in London. He was also awarded the Turner Prize in 1985, and was knighted in 1992.
