18th Century Swedish Baroque Cabinet with Scandinavian Folk Botanical Pattern
-
Description
A storied Swedish Baroque cabinet dating to the mid 18th-century Gustavian period. This antique cupboard has a gorgeous patina to its restored finish, where many layers of old paint were dry scraped to show the natural wood underneath. A stunning wash of lavender makes up the overall pastel palette at the exterior. The cabinet doors open to reveal a charming interior, where a graphic floral pattern was later stenciled in a modern Scandinavian folk style. Its stately silhouette features clean lines throughout the moldings and trim, topped with a classic pediment cornice. The storage within is wonderfully functional--with two deep drawers at the bottom as well as three shelves fitted with two drawers at the top. A statement piece for the new traditional living room or dining room. Sweden, circa 1760.
