-
Description
Rattan basket lounge chair by Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol, France, 1950.
This basketware lounge chair from 1955 is in excellent original condition, designed by Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol. The elegant basket seat shell is held by black lacquered steel frame. Manufactured by Edition Rougier.
In 1958, their aluminium, wooden and wicker furniture won their second prize at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs and their "Soleil" armchair the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels. While Rol's strengths lie more in planning, structure and architecture, Janine Abraham contributes imagination, inventiveness and imagination to her cooperation. -

Message from Seller:
Pavilion is the collective vision of Deborah Colman and Neil Kraus, both graduates of the master of fine arts program at the Art Institute of Chicago. From a longstanding interest in art and design, frequent buying trips to France and Italy have influenced the direction of the gallery to offer items that are not easily sourced in Chicago and United States. Postwar design has been the focus for 18 yrs and we also look forward to new design that crosses boundaries and dialogues as well to the past
