This fine and rare English George III period birdcage is tripartite in form, with a mahogany frame surrounding painted wire cages, of Orientalist form with a central dome with flanking semi circular domes. Each cage has decorative wire curlicue motifs above a centered door. Galvanized metal cage pans are fitted into mahogany pull-out slides with bone knobs. The three internal cages are separated by pull-out slides with bone knobs. Two feed and water holders, galvanized metal inserts with mahogany cases, attach to the sides by wire hooks. The rectangular mahogany base, of later date, has tapering legs joined by a cross stretcher.
